A year after its debut, the new generation 4-series 2-door coupe includes the 4-series Grand Coupe. Yes, it’s a 4-door version. In fact, the 2022 BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe is a 4-door hatchback. The body of the 2022 4 Series Grand Coupe is 5.9 inches longer than its predecessor. The 2-door 4-door system is 2 inches lower and slightly shorter in length (0.6 inches). Compared to Series 3 cars, Series 4 and Series 4 doors are approximately 3 inches long and 1 inch wide. Of course, the design uses a huge flared nose grille.
The dash combines adaptive LED headlights and U-shaped fibre optic daytime running lights. A spoiler appears on the rear end of the rear lift door, and the cross-sectional view shows the new flush door handle and frameless door glass. The Moredoor 4 series debuted with 430i rear-wheel drive and M440i xDrive. This gives the Gran Coupe one more change than the 4-series 2-door coupe.
The 2022 Series 4 Grand Coupe’s power system mirrors the power system of a two-door car. The 430i uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that can produce 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. The M440i’s 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder turbocharger produces 382 HP and 369 lb-ft, and is a smooth 48-volt. The latter cannot provide power to the car, but will promote the automatic stop-start system (allowing the engine to stop below 9 mph) and regeneration of braking energy. Both engines are specifically paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The automatic transmission includes paddle shifters, launch control, and sprint functions. Pulling the left paddle for more than 1 second will lower the transmission to the lowest available gear and shift all powertrain and chassis settings to Max Sport mode.
According to BMW, the 430i Gran Coupe accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.8 seconds, while the M440i xDrive Gran Coupe only needs 4.4 seconds. This causes the 430i Gran Coupe to lag behind its two similar products by 0.3 seconds, while the M440i xDrive Gran Coupe lags behind its two similar products by 0.1 seconds. Standard equipment for the Gran Coupé is similar to the two-door, including navigation, sunroof and power sports seats. The M440i is also equipped with M Sport suspension, M Sport differential, M Sport brakes, variable sport steering, shaded exterior trim and square aluminum interior.
Top options for the 430i include the M Sport Package (M Sport Suspension, Variable Sport Steering, 19-inch wheels, Aluminium Quad Interior, Aerodynamics Package, M Steering Wheel, and Sensor Tec Dash and Dynamic Control Package. The M440i offers Adaptive M Suspension, M Technology Package, High Performance Cooling Tire Package and 19-inch wheels. Both cars can be upgraded with adaptive cruise control systems, including stop-start and enhanced traffic jam assist, 3D-view surround cameras, driving recorders, and head-up display screens. The price of the 430i Gran Coupe is $ 45,795 and the price of the M440i xDrive Gran Coupe is $ 58,995. The starting price of the 430i Grand Coupe is $ 800 cheaper than the two-door version of the 430i and the 440i version is $ 500 cheaper than the two-door version.
