Kona’s transmission allows you to turn off the “creep” mode, where the car moves forward automatically when you turn the brakes.
Some cars like the Hyundai Veloster surprised us and it was a good time with the turbocharged four cylinders and dial-in chassis. The same Hyundai N tuning is not a complete N and a relatively improved N-line – is coming to the Kona SUV, and Automaker has released some details about the upcoming performance SUV.
It may be a short length to call it a sub-compact angle SUV, but it is the most riding hatchback available with all-wheel drive, so it counts in our books. Not to be outdone though, unlike the fun three-door Veloster, the Kona may be the hottest hatch,
Features
Hyundai claims to produce the Kona N276 horsepower with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. The Veloster N’s 275-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter engine is a nasty little machine with a snarling soundtrack and razor-sharp response that helped us win our most exciting drive award in 2020. Basic versions of the Kona and Veloster actually start at 68 68 (Kona SE 2,890 and Veloster 8 2,822), so we did not underestimate the very slow power-to-weight ratio of Kona.
The Kona comes with my eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, which is similar to Veloster N’s favourite eight-speed dual-clutch automatic. Like its siblings, the Kona N’s dual clutch introduces several performance driving modes, including My Green Shift, My Power Shift and My Track Sense Shift.
N Power Shift reduces torque handling by more than 90% to provide maximum power and exhaust blast during upgrade. The green shift sports plus-plus mode, which looks like a Porsche game response button, and when a button reaches 20 seconds it enters a very aggressive engine and transmission tuning, indicating a countdown in the instrument cluster. My track sense shift improves the transmission shift for racehorse driving. Kona’s transmission allows you to turn off the “creep” mode, where the car moves forward automatically when you turn the brakes.

Beyond that, the details are minimal. We do not yet know how much the Kona NK will cost, eventually providing a manual transmission like the Veloster N (not possible) or coming with all-wheel drive or front-wheel drive.
