Voltages route through the PCM with the help of fuses when the ignition switch is turned on during the cold start phase.

The PCM discontinues flowing of voltage to the oxygen sensors once the engine reaches the normal operating conditions. And when PCM detects a level of resistance in your oxygen sensor is higher than the particular range, it will generate the error code.
